ORIGINAL: laman would this work for a sport quad? to get to higher speeds faster? Yes it would, however you would want to trigger it in some way as to keep both hands on the bars at all times. Not because it would be a huge hit, but because sport quads already accelerate pretty ****ed fast as it is! It would not be a huge increase, an extra 3 hp or so is what it would give you for short periods of time if you sprayed it constantly.

Mud dobber, Argon does not burn it is used as a shield gas for welding it is an inert gas meaning it does not react with anything. Now acetalene (Spelling) that would do some damage.

phidelt is correct on the argon/acetyline difference. Acetyline would blow up as soon as your started the quad probably!

Try an oxygen boost. Safer the n2o. I use it on my golf cart. Works wonders.

I dump it into the air box before the filter, it mixes with the regular air and does great. Not as big of boost of N2o. Oxygen is not flamable, it just males what ever is burning, burn better.

Oxygen is highly flameable, but it does NOT need a flame to ignite. Why do you think you're not supposed to smoke when you are on oxygen????

alright, got a quick question for yall guys,it's a little off topic but here goes. Ok I thought I understood how nitrous worked,I thought it mixed with the air and burned and somehow made more power and what not,I also thought that when nitrous burned it burned hot and fast. Well I was talking about this yesterday and my cousin and his dad comepletely disagreed, they claim that nitrous isn't even flammable, and that all it did was mad the fuel burn cooler, also they claimed that Nitrous Oxide was in the air we breathe??? I tried to correct them and say NITROGEN was in the air, they said no,nitrogen is VERY flammable. Somebody with some knowledge clear this up for me please. Thanks.

When you heat nitrous oxide to about 570 degrees F (~300 C), it splits into oxygen and nitrogen. So the injection of nitrous oxide into an engine means that more oxygen is available during combustion. Because you have more oxygen, you can also inject more fuel, allowing the same engine to produce more power. Nitrous oxide is one of the simplest ways to provide a significant horsepower boost to any gasoline engine. Nitrous oxide has another effect that improves performance even more. When it vaporizes, nitrous oxide provides a significant cooling effect on the intake air. When you reduce the intake air temperature, you increase the air's density, and this provides even more oxygen inside the cylinder. Nitrous is not flammable by itself.

ORIGINAL: 91CavGT Here are the specifics of my nitrous setup. I have a bicycle/ATV CO2 tire inflator, a needle for inflating basket balls/foot balls/soccer balls, some misc hose, and some 16 gram nitrous cartridges. where did u get the nitrous cartriges? I zip tied the tire inflator on to my handle bars on the left hand side so I can easily hit the trigger while keeping both hands on the handle bars. I screwed the needle into the end of the inflator. From that needle, I used a very small hose adaptor and then ran some 5/16" hose from there to my snorkel. I then tested it this weekend at Mud Nationals. Now, my quad is only a 250 cc motor, but I currently am running a 140 jet in it and had a set of 25 X 9 X 12 Super Swamper Vampires on the back. When running in thick mud, the quad would occasionally start to bog down in 1st gear, so I reached up and tapped the nitrous for a split second. I was suprised that instantly, the rpms rose and I was able to continue spinning the tires through the rest of the mud hole. I also found while running on tight trails in 2nd gear, if I came across some mud and started to bog down, I could tap it again and it would give just enough of a power increase to maintain enough rpms to use 2nd gear. Each 16 gram cartridge was good for about 7-10 "taps". I went through 3 cartridges the entire weekend, but one cartridge was just trying to get everything working right, one cartridge was used to see how long it would last with keeping it pinned, and the other cartridge was used for normal trail riding. So in reality, one cartridge lasted an entire weekend. If I had to guess how big this "shot" is, I would have to say it's around a 2-3 hp shot. The CO2 inflator ran me $20 A 5 pack of 16 gram nitrous cartridges ran me $10 I had all the hoses and fittings laying around the house.

I bought the 16 gram nitrous cartridges at an online store and the pump I bought from work. This was the cheapest way I could find to do it.

ORIGINAL: wass1967 Oxygen is not flamable, it just males what ever is burning, burn better. I don't know who told you oxygen is not flammable but they are slap out of their mind OR you need to go back to school and take some extra chemistry classes. Pure oxygen is EXTREMELY flammable and 91CavGT is 100% correct, oxygen does NOT need a flame to ignite. Just spraying oxygen on an oily rag (or oily hand) will simply ignite oxygen. I use to be the safety coordinator at a large papermill and sawmill, I use to show safety videos all day long about stuff like this. I have actually seen (on video) a guy blow his hand off with a cutting torche by blowing the oxygen directly into the palm of his oily, greasy, dirty hand. The oxygen blew his hand right off, NO flames needed to ignite it. So again, whoever told you oxygen is not flammable, I wouldn't take too much serious advice from them.JMO.
