2009 - 2010 Mud Pro "update" required - Wednesday, July 28, 2010 5:44 PM ( #1 )
Got a letter from AC about the boot clamps on the intake to throttle body.  It looks like they want to replace the dual hose clamps with what appears to be a single non-servicable band clamp.  Anybody have any ideas what that's about?  Is it some sort of "trick" to be able to tell if people have removed a throttle body for cleaning or whatever (in case of a drowning)?  Or is it just my paranoia and its simply a better method of securing the two.

Also, because its from the Warranty department is this a warranty-voiding item if its not replaced (I'm still on extended for 2.5 yrs)?

i think its a better overall clamp, but there has to be some way of putting it on and taking it off. heck if you want to clean it out and the only way to do that is break the clamp off go buy another and put it on. i think the new clamp is a way to get more even pressure, to try and reduce risk of cracking.

The Pros are haveing problems with that boot tearing and letting dirt/mud/water in the motor as well as causing engine to not run properly. This is their fix for it.

i finally got some rubber tape and wraped around it it seems to be working fine now the dual clamps are actually pinching the boot and cuting it at the same time causing the bike to idle up really high suck in watter dirt ect. and makes the bike run like ****

I dont understand why they went to that set up VS the style like is on my 650, i mean why have rubber boot connect the thrttole body to the intake.?  why not just stick the throttle body into the intake like the carb does on the 650s. dont hear of the intakes ripping out like crazy..
they way they did it is just plain dumb imo..

its a boot the goes between the intake on the head and the throttle body, its just a dumb way to do it IMO why not just use the 650s "intake" and stick the throttle body in it just like the carb is on the 650s as this has been working great for many years.

Sounds like a legit problem.  I'll go ahead and get it in to the service dept.  Why can't there be a cat dealer closer than 40 mi that's worth a hoot (I think Freedom in Grandview is a Cat service center but I won't let them near my quad).

Re:2009 - 2010 Mud Pro "update" required - Thursday, July 29, 2010 11:34 AM ( #11 )
Is Hobby time the one based out of Bolivar?  I talked with one of their reps at the Springfield Farm Fest last year and was really impressed with the guy, and the numbers he gave me were better than what I paid (unfortunately I already had my quad at that point).  And a buddy picked up a STEAL on a Kaw zx10 down there a couple of years ago.

Quick short on Freedom.  A buddy went up there to look at the used bikes (part of the big expansion), and they wanted him to sign an intent to buy contract to even look through them (not in the main showroom)???  There weren't any monetary penalties but WTW is that about?  Scammy.
