I have a 07 brute 750. I went riding this weekend and when I am crusing with the bike in two wheel drive it is going into 4 wheel drive. I got stuck in a mud hole and four wheel drive would not stay engauged!!! I this it is my controller or the electric motor on the diff. any one had this problem??? How can i run some test to find out what it is. I did the relay mod 6 months ago I dont think that is the problem.

No corrosion! This brute has only been wet a few times. I dont think corrosion would make it kick into 4wd when the switch is in 2wd. Is there a way test the controller??? If i take the acuator of and switch the switch what is the delay time??? does the bike have to be moving for it to go into 4wd???

You should be stopped then select 4wd then slowly roll forward and it will engage. Don't jump in a hole a bind the system then put it in 4wd and slam the throttle if you like your front diff. It is probably an actuator problem but check under the selector switch and clean that area out real good. Mud will pack in underneath it and cause problems.

You asked does the bike have to be moving to go into 4wd. You got an answer and that would be considered pretty much a noob question. I figured that out after being on my bike for 20 minutes. If I wanted to be rude I would have told you to use the search function because there are probably no less than 250 threads on this issue.

hey man, i just rebuilt my front end and when i plugged my wire going to the actuator back up, mine was switching from 2 to 4 wheel drive all day. i think we have the same problem and its just a bad connecting in the plug or a wire possibly broke at the actuator.

Your selector switch on the handle bars could be full of mud. The little rubber boot on the switch doesn't last long.
