if you are trying to check the bearings the easiest way is to have the hub and tire on, lift the rear off the ground and see if you can move the tire back and forth.  there is only 1 bearing on each side.

yeah i did that. the wheel seems to be moving back and forth when i get to a higher speed and the tire is hitting the fender and it never did that before. how do you remove the bearing from the point i am at now?

you have to remove the entire trailing arm and press the bearings out.  you remove them by taking the black rubber cap off the top part of the trailing arm by the gas tank. behind that cover you will find a large snap ring and a nut that holds the trailing arms to the frame (you do need a special tool to remove this nut just fyi) with the trailing arms off you can press the bearings out and press the new ones in.

you broke the cast iron iron piece on the trailing arm torsion bar. take the rubber boot off and you will see it. I think its a 1 1/16 nut to get it out. get me a second i show you a pic of it.

i dont have a picture but the part number is 529035925.  also i forgot to mention when you pull the black rubber cap off the trailing arm you will first need to remove the torsion bar. not a huge deal just remove the nut from one side a persuade it out with a rubber hammer or a block of wood and larger hammer.

no that is the piece that holds the torsion bar inline with the trailing arms, well that is a broken one anyway hopefully yours is not broken.

In stead of making a new tread ill bring this on back to life. Is there any way to get the bearings out with out a press?

No, you will need a special socket to remove the arm.. And a press to get the bearing out.. There is also a snap ring holding the bearing in which needs a flat screwdriver to get out.

If you have the right tools it's a pretty easy job.

Definitely need to pull the arm & put them in a press.

The bearings are a single "unit bearing" type design with two sets of ball bearings & self-sealing with tandem double lip seals. Nice design, as all wear surfaces including the seal surfaces are on/in the races themselves, thus all fresh when replaced.

The only place I know of to get the special tool required to remove the trailing arm is frm the brp dealer. It seems its a different size than any other spanner socket I have ever used. I could not a match for it. Try ebay though...u may get lucky.

I did mine with the trailing arm still on the bike... Slid my diff back to drop my axles... The bearings came apart so I packed the outter race with dry ice to try to shrink it some... Then took an air hammer and it came right out... Took a socket tht is the same size as the outter race and knocked te new ones in... After it was all said and done I had some dry ice left so I made a few bombs with water bottles and had a field day

I have changed my rear bearings about 4 times and I never pull the trailing arms off.  I pop the bearings out leaving the race that presses into the arm.  Then I wash out a section of the race with a torch, and it will come right out with a hammer and chisel.   I use a ball joint press to install the new bearings.
