OK, guys ive searched the post about 200 times, im looking for front bearing numbers for an 06 500 efi, if anyone can link me to it if im missing or if anyone knows the actual number off these bearings it would be a big help, a local bearing guy sells em for 5.99 race and cup and seal, he needs the number off the bearing itself to match up,
Are the front bearings the same in the 500, 600, 700 , 800?

RE: Make a list of common numbers we need - Wednesday, December 26, 2007 9:23 PM
Hello,

Thanks for all the parts subsitutions! Motivated me to quit feeding the Polaris monkey and do a bit of detective work.

I have found a universal joint to add to the ever-growing list. Note: these are smaller than the u-joints listed for earlier in this thread for larger ATV's.

2001 500 Sportsman HO RSE
Polaris part number 2200771
Cost: $72.79 ea. online at World of Powersports (I really hope this was a typo)

I measured my u-joint and went to Advance Auto Parts and found someone who could find the paper catalog that list the size of all available u-joints. Had to order the part and had it the next business day.

Advance Auto part number 1-0121
Brand name: neapco (some Italian flavor U-joint I never heard of previously)
Cost: $16.96 ea.

This part number fits all four locations. Make sure you measure the removed part and the new one. I actually had one of the four that was about .020 too long. Luckily this was the first one I installed so I measured it. All of the others were within spec. ( I took a grinder to the bad one to avoid ordering another and avoided having to walk to my secluded hunting spot again!)

I bought my Polaris used and I have cursed it ever since because I work on it more than I ride it (proven fact). I have to admit that all of the failures to date stem from lack of maintainence. Check your fluid levels especially in the front hubs. If they dry up which causes extreme heat, the garter spring turns into spagetti and it will lock the hub into 4WD when you are at high speed. You will have a wild ride turning hard left or right at best! At worst you will flip.  While I was fixing this issue, I discovered the front diff was almost empty and had water in the gear oil due to a worn and leaking seal. Also noted the u-joints were toast (no grease in them).

Maintain you ATVs! If you don't they might try to kill you.

Hope this helps,

Charles

NAPA Part Number is 602-1069, very close motor mount replacement. Appears to be a tiny bit taller. Uncomfirmed, found this on another forum.

Just another number for ya'll.   Carter fuel pump # E7000 is the same as a 05 700 efi.  I bought it at oriely for 89.99.  The only difference is the strainer that comes with it will not work..  You will have to use your stock or have them find one that will work..

We are replacing the front wheel bearings in a 2001 Sportsman 500 ho 4x4.  We have the Timken bearing numbers but when we went to the parts store to get them they didn't have the Timken so cross referenced them to a different brand and the bearing cup weren't included with the bearings.  Do these normally come without the bearing cups?  If so does anyone have parts numbers for the bearing cups?  The bearing numbers are Timken-L44643 and Timken-L44649.

Thanks,

This is a match for the oil filter on a sportsman 500, the link has other bikes too but I'm not sure about the twin bikes.  I have actually found this filter at my local Wal-mart. Hope this helps someone.

Not sure if this was posted.  700 front wheel bearing specs per BCA.

Ball Bearing Bore=1.378" Outer Diameter=2.5197" Width=1.4567" Inner Race Radius=0.165"

Maybe cross refferance at your local bearing dealer.

We started using NGK Iridiums on our machines and so far so good.  We were fouling out the regular NGK's pretty quickly.  I'm assuming the problem was the programmers on our machines.  Anyway here's the ones we're using on our twins, including the RZR.

For 1997-2000 Non-HO 500 Sportsmans

Polaris front strut Bearings #3554509  $18 bucks a pop
replaced by:
John Deer JD8935 About $5.00 each

Polaris front wheel hillard hub bearings  #3554506 $18 each
replaced by:
John Deer JD8933 about $5.00

You can carry any style roller bearing found in 96-2004 Sportsman to John Deere dealership, and chances are they will have it, for about a quarter of Pure Polaris' prices.

If you can't find a specific number, take your old one to the parts store and find a "good" salesman and he can match it for you. That's how the ones listed were found to be a suitable replacement.

I just ordered a replacement fan from Universal Parts Inc. for my '02 Sportsman.  They listed #30101538 as a a replacement fan for OEM part #2410288 that is used on Sportmans Twin, Sportsman X2 Twin, and RZR.  I will let you know how it goes.  It was $100 plus shipping of $18.00.

was the factory clamps were leaking (BAD) so I changed the pump and replaced all of the hoses and clamps now the new pump sound alot different than the old one because the gas is going through the regulator blow off and not the lose hoses. I sure hope this fixes my problem of dieing on the trail

saturday I took the 700 out and she ran perfect 20 some miles and it got pretty warm my right leg was getting hot a couple of times. fixing that fuel line leak in the tank must of fixed my pump problem. I just thought I would share the information with guys.

Does anyone have the part number for the rear "U" Joint in a 1998 sportsman? It's for the rear axles from the diff to the wheel.

Thanks

napa fuel pump, part # 72118  works perfect on a 800 EFI.

I am calling all of you out. How many of you have actually used the parts you have listed on here???????

crashed13, I think I would remember if I used a replacement fuel pump and saved $400 on a repair!!!!! for all of you wondering what I am talking about, I pm'd him about the fuel pump he said works great on a 800 efi in the above quote, but a month later he can't remember if it worked or not???? come on guys either it did or not either way let us know.
Dabutcher, you have listed many parts on here, but when I asked how your fuel pump worked you stated in a PM that you have not actually used the part. If YOU have NOT successfully used a replacement part, then DON'T list it on here. this post was started to HELP people, not to make others think you know what you are talking about.

now does anyone know if the replacement fuel pumps previously listed in this post will work on a 2007 700 efi.

Call me out then, I have used most all the parts I have put in this thread. The ones I have not actually used I was confident about them or would not have posted it. I would in a second get that fuel pump listed if I needed one.

This thread, which I started under another name has saved mudders here a lot of money and most of all helped keep us in the game when OEM parts are not availaible.

Please don't come in here complainin when all "most" of use are trying to do is help.

all I am saying is don't list things if you don't know if they work or not. at least you DID respond to my post.
also, if someone is going to list a part on here list the bike it is going on. some of the posts list the part number only no bike.
dabutcher, I know you and the others are trying to help, where did you get the part number for the fuel pump and what year and model does that fuel pump fit?

thanks guys for the info. I am going to purchase one tomorrow.
I dont remember anyone mentioning oils in this post, but I use royal purple gear oil for the transmission. it is the same senthetic oil that you get at the popo shops. does anyone use other oil for the engine?

on the fuel pump issue, the airtex e8198 (fits a hyundai sonata 89-92) is not the same pump that is on the 07 700 efi. the one that fits is for a 93-04 hyundai elantra or sonata 4cyl. it has the exact same elect fittings, and strainer size. I bought one from ebay for $19.95 and installed it yesterday, it works good.

ORIGINAL: SLEDHEAD

hello. my fan was noisey so i removed the blade and everything under it.i then carefully pryed the case appart. make sure the magnets do not get mixed up as the fan may spin backwards if you do. the bearing is a common bearing used in many roller blade wheels. my local hardware store had a box in the bolt aisle with only 4 different sizes. one of the 4 was the same size, and even had heavy duty seals. the other end of the shaft is a bushing and was in great shape. i then packed the bushing with some good synthetic grease, and now the fan motor is smooth as silk. also the fan blade fit loose over the drive pin. i coated the notch in the blade, and the shaft with heavy duty black gasket maker.  installed the fan and clip and coated the end of the shaft and fan with the same sealer.  let it set up over night. the fan was never as quiet as it is now, and the gasket maker acts as a shock absorber between the steel drive pin and the plastic blade. the sealer i used should allow the blade to come free if it should ever need to come appart again.  the best part was the bearing was only 2.85 and the sealer i had kicking around the garage.  sure beats 250.00 from polaris.

thanks for the tip on the silicone, Im working on my 06 500 fan also was wandering what to do about the fan wobble.  by the way that bearing # should be 608-2RSJ, im rebuilding mine also. going looking for a bearing today.

Any of those can cross them if they will. I have used O'reillys and Bumper to Bumper.
A few post down from the original there is a better seal number for the output seals.
