This is out of the sevice manual.

ER-1 Item: ECU internal malfunction (output signal error) Symptom: No signals are received from the ECU.

You are unable to start or Drive.

THat is correct I cannot start or drive the atv. My question is how do you solve this problem. What happened is that two of the wires on the lean angle sensor touched an created this problem. It almost as if a fuse is blown but I have checked all the ones I kknow of. Where is the EMC located??

From what I see, you may have to replace the ECU. I could not not find anything else about this error in the service manual than what I placed in my last post. I am not sure how to reset the error on these yet.

Has anyone else had experience with this because mine just started doing the same thing. There has got to be something simple causing this besides the ecu going bad.

I was looking at the service manual more and there are a couple other things to do. One has been mentioned disconnect the battery, the other I think is to check for loose connections. There is a communication error with the meter. I am wondering if you have a loose wire behind the POD that links directly with the ECU.

Thanks for the help. I will follow these suggestions and check for the loose wire. If it is the ECU how much is that going to cost??

Thanks for the posts everyone. I really think, and hope for that matter that it is just a loose connection somewhere. Will post what I find out though in case anyone else might have the same problem.

Well I figured it out. Stupid negative terminal that goes from the battery to the winch came lose from the winch and was shorting out on the frame. Easy fix, so make sure that if you are having problems that you check everything closely before you go out and get a new ECU.
