Discovery during jetting * attention* - Sunday, September 17, 2006 3:01 AM ( #1 )
First; let me thank all who have responded and called me on the previous posts regarding jetting.
Scribner, Roundman, Chevyon52, Flamudder, and all the others,  your advice and setups have been very helpful.

Now what I/We discovered:
we re-jetted with Dyno-Jet kit, two Brute 750's both with Bayou Snorkels, K&N filters and Moose Modules.
Jetted as follows:
150f/155r
clip pos #4 both f/r
2 turns on mix screw

What we got was still rich.
During a static run up we noticed that the needle was not being pulled back out of the neddle jet and giving a rough and rich run.  Removed & inspected needle for burrs and correct position of e-clip and washers.

It was during this inspection we noted that the "aux slide lift hole" that was drilled as per Dyno-Jets instructions was partically blocked by the legs of the plastic spring seat.
In the Kawi Service Manual there is a note to be SURE that the spring seat is clocked so that the vacuum slide hole is not blocked.  Same note SHOULD apply to the aux hole that needs to be drilled for the Dyno-jet.
At this point the only solution was to clip off the plastic leg blocking the aux hole.  Once that was done....BINGO
The rich running and tuning issues went away!

It's my opinion that some of us are chasing a ghost moving e-clip positions and making other adjustments when running too rich after the re-jet install.  It maybe in fact, as was my case, that the aux hole you drilled is either partially or completely blocked, not allowing enough vaccum to pull back on the diaphram and in turn pulling the pin out of the seat.

Again my opinion;  Dyno-Jets instruction should note that the location of the aux hole is critical to proper opertation.  Instead there instructions show a picture of where the hole should be, but no deminisions or any point of reference.

If any Dyno-Jet people visit this sight, I would appreciate a response or at least a note on future kit instructions.

I hope this will benefit all of us who have spent countless hours tuning something, that could have been prevented by a simple footnote in the Dyno instructions.

Any and all responses are welcome.

I think this might be the problem that is making my brute run like poo!  running rich, sounds like its missing at idle,  I'm having a friend snorkel my brute this week so I'll give it a look and see if its the problem, thanks for the info

So is this causing the mid rang miss as well?? Why they spudder out when holding at a steady speed?? So i guess it doesn't hurt to cut the little leg off?? Thanks-Chris

...The jet kit requires you to drill a hole in the vaccum diaghram body of the needle holder (the kit comes with the drill bit)theres a small plastic frame inside the diaghram body that holds the needle that has four legs you need to clip one of these legs off so that it will not accidently cover the drilled hole...The kit come with pretty detailed instrutions so youll know what to do...

Don't clip the whole leg off just the feet at the side. If you shorten the legs it could cause more problems.

RE: Discovery during jetting * attention* - Monday, January 08, 2007 4:02 PM ( #15 )
OK my dj kit came today and remember this is for a 650i, anyways NO WHERE in the instructions does it say anything about drilling a hole through the diaghram(sp). The only thing you drill is the little metal part that is covering the a/f screw. So im guessing I shouldnt have to worry about any of this and once again this is the kit for the 650i from dynojet, not for the 650sra. So please tell me if I need to go about doing anything else. thanks

Did it come with a drill bit and a shorter diaphram spring?

Ok well I did realize that I dont need to drill a hole so thats good. Im pretty pleased with how easy the kit install went, and hopefully I can figure out the jetting with out to much trouble.

Let me correect myself.  You just have to the foot off of one leg. Don't cut the feet off of all of them. The spring needs to sit on them .

Also don't drop it on the floor and let the dog get it.    It'll be  screwed for sure.[:D]

IMO the stickys are not for advertiseing products. Loose the HL rad. sticky . Also the drag clutch sticky has some good info but I don't think most of us don't go that deep into our clutch settups for the rideing we do so that one can go also.  Most of us know the URL rules and it has nothing to do with helping people and share what we've learned about our bikes. That is what 99% of our post are about...... shareing info.

If I run just a LRD Torc slip on (07-750) will I need to rejet? I'm pretty sure later when I snorkal I'll def. need to. But right now w/ just the LRD will I need to? I dont have a clue about jetting.
