chevy question - Monday, March 15, 2010 4:39 PM ( #1 )
i have a 2000 z-71 and my gas guage will go from full to empty when im idleing at a light or as long as im not driving it........has anyone heard of this prob i called advanced and auto zone and asked if there was some sensor that i needed to replace and where and niether knew of such a thing anyone got any ideas thanks

my dads fuel gauge on his 2000 was screwed up, it would go from full to empty to half and was accurate on a rare occasion.  if i remember correctly it was a sensor in the fuel tank.  it was not a cheap thing to replace.  good luck.

yea sending unit in the tank.  had it happen to my 2000 GMC never did fix i though. just paid attention to my millage

yea its been like that for a while i let it get a little low and apparently thats not the best thing to do i was hopin it was an easy fix thanks for the replies

mines started doing it right after i bought it, It would be way off the guage like at super full. But them as the weather got warmer it starts to read accurate and now its working properly unless its real cold in the mornings.
