I am sure you could go to 29.5's if you wanted, i am sure some guys with a little more law experience will chim in here to give you there opinions. I have seen guys though run 29.5's with that set up before though.

With the 2 inch lift you can clear 29.5 laws on aftermarket wheels. Some guys run them without the lift also. I have the 2 inch lift on mine with 29.5 swamplites and it clears them fine. I have a lil rubbing from the fronts with 12 psi in them because they measure over 30 inches. Not enough to hurt anything though.
The 27's or 28's would also work fine just depends on which route you chose to take. The advantage to the 29.5's would just be less work in the mud holes with the extra clearance. Less work would actually offset the added strain to the drivetrain from the larger tires. Its the rocking, spinning, grabbing that ussually tears stuff up. Not the riding down the trail on large tires.

i wouldnt ride 29.5 without a secondary spring change. most will agree the EPI RED is a proven spring for that size tire.

Your best bet IMO is the 27 x 9 or 10 up front (cant remember is the 27 is a x9 or a x10) and a 27x12 out back. This will be the better set up on the trails & wont beat you to death too bad. When it comes down to it, what you described your riding is like, you really dont NEED laws, in my opinion. B/c if your riding in really thick red clay, even laws are gonna gum up and get stuck if its nasty enough. I would look for something that will offer great trail performance, but also pony up in the mud if you need it, like the Outlaw MST. They are the best all-terrain tire (IMO). But, if your dead set on getting a set of outlaws, then I would suggest the 27" Laws, skinny in the front, wide in the rear. You wont HAVE to change your secondary spring, but I would recommend it. If you dont change it you need to ride in low unless your scooting down a nice wide trail/road/dirt-road/pasture, you get the idea. Any time your on a trail or in the mud you need to use low..

    hope this helps..

PS. I have pictures of my brute, with 4 26x12 MST's on all 4, as well as w/ 29" laws, on my website (link in signature)

    28 10 fives SUCK...about a horrible riding tire imo

If your wanting small get the 27's

My 29.5 10's rode great for a big mud tire and fit on stock wheels with no lift on my 08....with a little trimming
