building a 350 foreman powered 300,

ok so far i got this mess all tore apart, im finally getting around to building this

im putting this 350 foreman motor into a 300 frame, i got the whoe transfer case figures out i believe, here is few pics gotta get my shop cleaned today and get it in there,

i already have a 6 inch lift swingarm and d shaft, and i am wanting to use all 300 parts as possible and keep it a 350 powered 300, JPs any idea on lining up the motor to the swing arm, becasue the 350 foreman output shaft is lower than the 300? im thinking of cutting out the bottom frame of  the spare 350d frame i got and welding it on top of the bottom of the 300 fram, looks like that will bring up the output shaft to the swingarm correctly and the bottom mounts will be lined up, any input anyone or JPs,

looks like a mess i know, gotta get it in the shop today

    - you're going to love this, just take your time and do it right. The motor swap is the one thing I wouldn't change at all from about my build.

I would either build a new set of mount tabs to position the motor higher, or cut & section the rear rails to bring the swing-arm pivot down to suite. - Would be more difficult to lower the swing-arm pivot, but would keep the motor as low in the frame as possible(why give up ground clearance if you don't have too?) and you could run a little less angle on the u-joint while maintaining ride height with the front end. - Then, just rotate the t-case slightly to level the input/output which will comphensate for the front output vs front diff height.

thanks JP, but being i could not get on here to get info i cut out the bottom section of the spare 350d bare frame i had, and im going to lay it on top on the 300 and line it all up, looks like its gonna line up perfect for swing arm,

and i already have a 10 inched streched swing arm and d shaft for a 300 thats going on it it gicves about 6 inches lift in back, then going to build the front in,

p.s its in my shop now on nice table and not outside on my poo tear down table lol

^ that will make for an awesome "300".

I laid both my 300 & the 350 harness out on the bench and with the help of the 350 service manual I built one harness out of the two.  - Not sure what you have, but the 86 harness/motor is more difficult to use than an 87+, as the CDI & key switch systems are more compatible. Mine was an '86 engine/harness so it has a little quirk to it that I consider to be my "anti-theft" device(lol).

a little update i decided to merge the front part of the 300 frame with the 350 foreman, that way like you said jp, my swing arm mounts will be lower and more ground clearence, i used the

the motor bolts up yay, now going to move the swing arm mount over a some to match the 300 swing arm, then finish the body lift, and then finish the front end up with the transfer case idea i have

    all tied in

3 and half inch body lift done on front and steering stem, its coming together still have to basically make the rest of the back of the frame, and move thee oppisite side of output shaft swing arm mount
, to match the width of the 300 swing arm

Very nice! - The brace plates you added into the corners at the splice will be a huge strength help.

This set-up with a big center axle paddle would make for one of the baddest mud bikes out there.

this is my mock up for the front any input on this? think this will work, its kinda like the old kodiak was set up, i made it all out of 2 300 rear drive shafts and yolks, none of it is welded just mocked for input. might have to do like a pillar block berring or brace idk?

got motor bolted on at bottom mounts with front drive shaft in, and rear frame body lift pipe all tacked up, im getting more excited lol

It looks like it'll work. Just like the rear driveshaft on an 18 wheeler and if it works on them it should work on a 300. But you might need to build a brace. But then again I could be completely wrong. Im just going off what I think and know.

Fix it all week just to ride all weekend.

You might want to check the rotation of the front differential with that set up. If you are still using the 300 front diff in the original location and orientation, it will pull the tires backwards. You may have to utilize a 300 style transfer case to counter rotate the d-shaft.

There ya go. Same little height rotation as I did to match up the input/output heights; still leaves plenty of oil in the case while filling/draining as if stock. I kept the front driveshaft stock, eliminated the front pillow block bearing and modded the intermediate shaft to suit.  - With moving it forward like that you might want to check tire clearance when turned tight left. Not sure if it'll be an issue, but in a stock configuration front suspension/wheel offset it could be pretty tight.

all together and t case mounted in several places

the front end is completly done,  got the frame back all together, where it was cut , drive shaft is perfect, the other shaft to the t case has a a little bow in it dont think its enough to hurt its slight, if so ill put it on a press, it all turns real smooth, can tur it all with my hand, now with the hard part done lol time to finish rear and ill be almost done
