Nice buck !!!!! people always hating on high fence, i will say this you are right seeing deer like this and not on a managed ranch are few and far between. But the dude was lucky enough to get to go kill a monster congrats to him. You know if you could or got the invite to go kill a monster you would. I think people hate on it for that reason, like when i killed mine i figured heck if i dont kill it someone else will so why not get an awesome deer to display so i did. Comes down to like alot of the other threads. Some people have 30k in there sxs and people hate on them why i dont know its there money let them spend it on atvs, gambling, hunting, or what ever it may be. People like to see impressive things, if ever one posted a stock Grizzly or a standard 6 point buck "not that any thing is wrong with that " IT would get old really fast around here.

Again nice deer thanks for the post very impressive i dont care if high fence or not monster !!!.

I'm not hating, I'm just saying that more than likely the deer was killed behind a high fence. I deer hunt myself, I would like to get a opportunity at a big Buck like that.

i killed a nice 10 point this year, but it wasnt in the same class as these ''outfitter'' deer. don't get me wrong, if i had the connections to shoot a tame deer or the money to go to a fenced ranch n shoot a monster like some of these, i'd be there instead of my small lease. they are great wall hangers for sure.

You know that is something i was surprised about, i went to this ranch expect to go to the blind see the deer and shoot him simple as that. Well i hunted and hunted and hunted. Finally at the end of the week i seen the monster, if it would have went another day or 2 i would have been gone empty handed.

congrats to you STA on your monster! do not get me wrong in my post above, you were blessed to be able to get the chance to shoot a deer like that no matter where it came from. i believe there is not one hunter that has seen either of these nice bucks on here that wouldnt jump at the chance to shoot one as well. reality is the normal hunter who hunts family property or a small lease with in their budget will likely never see a deer anything like these, and in return people want what they can't have. like i said i shot a nice 10 this year and would not be ashamed to post a pic on here, just can't do it from my phone.

Yes you are right i hunted out west on a lease for many years shot some nice bucks 10s and 12s  19-20 wide good bucks. Then  i have hunted where i live hunted all season not seen a dang thing so you are right odds are you will never see a buck like this in a life time on open land. Around here people shoot anything that moves and thats one reason i gave up deer hunting locally.  If you shoot a 12 inch wide 4 point he will never grow up to be grand daddy. But then again i understand if you dont shoot it some one will. This is the first monster buck i have ever been able to shoot and i do consider myself lucky.

I was about to go crazy and say no way that deer came from south GA lol untill I saw Ohio. High fence or not, ANY hunter would dream of a deer like that. I would be so pumped to bring home a monster like that. Just sucks that for ME I only get a chance to hunt open property on family land in south Bama. Ill never see a deer half that size....

I think it depends on where you are in your state...I regularly hunt an 800 acre piece of family land that has produced 5 150+ class bucks already this year and has been producing them every year for the past 6 or 7 years. Couple 200 class deer have come off this place as well since the early 2000's one of which is still the record for it's county and there is no fence, no management plan, no feeders, no nothing and for some reason they just keep coming.

I know this is not a "high fence" thread, but since someone started the discussion, I though I would share.  A guy I work with, who does not hunt, asked me what the big deal was about hunting behind a high fence.  His though was a deer is a deer and it does not matter where you get it.  My response was this:  Getting a trophy deer behind a high fence is like landing a hot chick at the brothel.  There is a certain satisfaction to going out into the wild and finding a trophy on your own.  I love hunting more than anything and would take advantage of hunting behind a high fence if given the opportunity (same for the brothel) but I would not get the same level of pride as I would finding one in an unencumbered environment. That said, these are some really nice deer.  I hope to get the chance to hunt up north someday to get the opportunity at some of those bigger deer.

& you are very correct.. i hunt private land, by permission only.. no cash involved.. i actually walk out my back door across the creek & i'm there.. i dont use game cameras, i dont plant exotic food plots & have to battle disrespectful arse holes on atvs trying to ruin my evening hunts.. i do put out some ear corn on the ground.. & i consistantly kill nice deer each season.. i havent shot a doe in over 12 yrs.. they are buck bait .. i spend the time in the woods & hunt the old way.. i have no respect for a so called meat hunter.. thats no hunter.. anyone can go kill does & lil' deer.. you do get great satisfaction in taking nice deer this way .. would i hunt a big ranch behind a high fence if i had a chance ?? WELL HEALL YEAH I WOULD..  but i aint paying cash like that .. as was so truthfully stated its like getting a fine chick in a brothel.. buyer takes all.. i'm happy for those who can get any chance to hunt .. but lets be careful we dont confuse hunting with shooting fish in a barrel.. i am a very fortunate man to have the set up i have .. i mostly hunt alone , few others want to hunt, just kill.. there is a big difference whether behind a fence or not.. excepot usually behind a fence you will behave , as the outfitters wont tolerate otherwise.. its much more gratifying when you can control your own conduct & hunt clean.. i wish everyone no matter how small a plot of land would practice better management .. i hear way to often if i dont kill it someone else will & thats a sad day for all hunters..

i eat the meat , but yes.. i hunt for antlers.. i'm sure i got enough trespassers shooting does for me..  trespassers are another disrespectful breed we have to deal with.. i have no need for mass amounts of meat , just so i can say i killed deer.. its about the hunt & how you get there.. i dont expect all to understand, nor do i feel a need for them too.. most meat hunters take far more than they need & most have some reason they need too.. lets just say i'm not mad at the deer & besides you gotta clean what you kill & unless your really mad at them deer thats alot of work..

Thats like i had posted above, i have never hunted high fence til this deer and i was pretty luck to get to do so. I am with you the deer i kill i do eat but its about the fun and the trophy for me. Same with duck hunting which is my choice of all hunting. I shot tons of ducks over the season clean them all then give them away to friends and family cuz they like the meat. I do it for the enjoyment of setting up decoys and calling in a set of birds. Same with deer i to feel that setting up and getting open land right will be far more gratifying just like duck hunting. but when i got a shot at the high fence and for free i was all over it.

not a thing wrong with that .. i like you , like to share some of the meat also.. some dont have the luxury to hunt, some are to old or just not able.. but they still have a taste for it.. i hear georgia has some nice deer.. never got to hunt there, but alot of guys from here travel there to hunt.. maybe one day i can make it..
