you have it in backwards.. the one on my 660 said "OUTSIDE" this should face away from the atv itself...
when installed correctly, your primary shaft should spin FREELY counter-clockwise and it shouldnt want to spin clockwise.
One more thing, when you take it back apart check each little "sprag" or bearing on the one way bearing and be sure that they are all facing the same way.
there should be a mark on the back of each one to help .
