Wizard Mobile

Well someone came on here and deleted a thread rather than try to fine a proper place to move it too. I did start it under the other ATV brands listing but apparently I was wrong. So let's try this again since rhino's come on here and can't speak and just cause havic. Also we see no moderators on here and spam stays for weeks months at a time.
So this is for Wizard. He's is a good guy with well written explanations when building something. He likes dune buggies which is a Recreational Vehicle!!!!! That's why it's under RUV!!!! Anyway Wizard please start your tread again and I'm sorry the first one was deleted.

Re: Wizard Mobile 2017/09/28 19:09:59 (permalink)
Hey all, thought I would drop in post my buggy project and maybe get your help and ideas for an improved axle system or other ideas you may have for my KANDI KD-150GKA-02 2 seater mini dune buggy. I just bought this and supposedly the only thing wrong with my buggy was 'NO SPARK'. Well, I was rolling it into the shop one day and noticed the passenger side rear wheel was wobbly. And where was my head when I thought, 'hmmm needs new bearings'...... WTH was I thinking??? It has a live axle at 1 1/8" stepped down from approx. 1 1/4" and 15/16" 24 splined at the ends. Well, I fought and fought with the cotter pin and finally yanked it out, removed the castle nut and pulled the wheel and hub off. The right side hub and axle were stripped badly and beyond any type of use. I then pulled off the driver's side rear after it was a tad wobbly but it wasn't very bad but not good enough for me. I heard that some people weld the hubs on with a few spot welds per side.
I went to Ebay and ordered a new axle for $159 from the Asian manufacturer because I could not locate one anywhere else. The axle should be here today or tomorrow. I also bought and received a new pair of 137 mm 24 splined hubs. I installed one on the good end of the axle and I am disappointed in the slop I get. If it wasn't for the slop and the thought of stripping a new set of hubs and a new axle in no time, I would love to make this work. OTHER than welding the hubs on, I thought about spreading JB Weld into the splines on the axle and the hubs and slowly sliding them together and cleaning the access before tightening the castle nut and leaving them to sit for a few days. I've used JB Weld a lot and know how tough the stuff is and I don't see a 'fail' in doing so...........OK, so we have two ways, Welding the hubs on ( probably indestructible), JB Weld for tight no gap spline contact ( maybe it'll work), and lastly, I would like to buy a 1 1/4" rear axle stepped down to 1" @ 5" from the ends and 1/4" keyed to accept Golf Cart hubs. If I can find Golf Cart hubs in 1 1/8" keyed, I would go 1 1/8" all the way then and drilled and tapped on the ends. . I really would like to build a new axle but then I have to locate the hubs for the disc brake and the #40 60 tooth sprocket, the bearing holders and locking sleeves, etc. I could probably use my original 1 1/8" bearings and holders and just replace the rubber dust cap washer with a 1 1/8" dust washer that was on the 1 1/4"step up side of the axle.
I welcome any and all ideas you may have. I will try to stay away from welding the hubs to the axle( for one, they are pot steel and I don't know it it matters). If I damage the hub/s then I'm in big trouble and waste an axle. Can someone come up with what would be needed to order for a new axle system and I think the three way bolt patter on the bearing holder braces are common. IF you need photos other than what I post, please let me know. The axle should be 41" to 42" long. 42" preferred.
Today, I installed my new axle and hubs. I'm going to send out my old axle for some cool custom work and have it turned, keyed, drilled, and tapped. I believe I'm going to JB Weld the splines on the axle and the hub and then in a couple days I'm going to drill 1/4" hole half and half and insert a 1 1/2" long 1/4" steel rod and I bet I never have a problem with it again. Soon, I will just have to locate the reason it's not getting any spark. Here is a picture of my dune buggy.            Thanks so much, Scott

Four link four link four link. You can weld so rock it out. I seen a Honda odessy that was converted to four link and it's a beast. I'd try to put an odessy axle so you get Honda hubs and all!!!! Also a machine shop could make you whatever axle you want.

I have one similar to that. It's blue but out of commission at the moment. Got loose in the pine straw and smacked a tree.

Yeh, that's not good. I T-Boned the side of a car where a female rolled through a stop sign and into my path as I was traveling 60 mph on a highway on my way to work in the spring of 98' as I was a truck driver at the time in Jacksonville for Southern Wine And Spirits. I think the items you now sell may have been used on my broken lower spine and ribs back then, etc. LOL......
