Which axle is this?350d, trx250? Any of you 300trx junkies know!?

Bought a couple 300 parts bikes a few years ago when I was doing a build and one had what I thought to be a 350d rear axle on it. Finally got around to taking it off and am going to rebuild it. Well after doing some research and finding out a lot of people do a 250 swap I can't figure out which one it is. Doesn't seem to look like the 350d from the way the original shock mount is and didn't seem to match up to the 250 either looks like it had a 300 driveshaft on it and there was no pinion collar with a nut on the pinion gear but the driveshaft fit right on the splines snug. Also the 450 foreman wheel hubs fit perfect on the axle. Let me know what you guys think!

Is it a 350 rancher? If so would that work a 300 or are the gear ratios different? Inside the diff part number was stamped hn5-4a and nothing seems to come up in a search

I'm seriously thinking this is a 350 rancher rearend hopefully someone on here can confirm/deny? Ring gear counts 48 and I believe 12 on the pinion not 100% on pinion tho as the bearings locked up and won't turn. My piece of angle tubing that works on the 300 to remove the star nut, doesn't fit over the splines to unlock the star nut on this one

its not 350 d axle tubes.
350 rancher axle tube is made to swingarm. so no on that
those brakes definetly look 350 rancher or 400 foreman.

I really think it's a 350 rancher axle tube that was cut from the swing arm and welded to a 300 swing arm. So I'm guessing this won't work or I would have heard of people doing it before? I'm guessing the gear ratio is too different. If a 300 has like 3.88 rear ratio? Then 48/12 in this diff would be 1 to 4 ratio is that the rear diff ratio on a 350 rancher?

Yea I'm thinking rancher 350 too. For the lock nut use an electric hot water element tool and it will slip over the splines and into the lock nut no problem.

Oh **** I didn't know that! Those are a couple of bucks at Home Depot compared to the actual tool that's like 60. I'll defiantly be picking one up. So I guess I should scrap putting this on a 300 unless it's 2wd as it will be too far off ratios as opposed to the front? I don't even remember if the bike I took it off was 4wd I'll have to check tomorrow

Yea unless your 300 is 2x4 that diff is a no go for a 4x4 300.

**** that's such a buzzkill I was excited to finally get started on this. I guess I'll rebuild the diff and sell it. Wonder if a 350d or 250 rear diff would mount up to this thing? I feel like most of the Honda diffs have the same spacing or even a 300 diff?

Or now I have to get a 3rd 300 that's 2wheel drive. Probably be the cheapest and easier route right? Lol

Any of the 250es (big red) atcs will work. NOT the sx. The 250 fourtrax 2x4 atv made in the middle to late 80s and the 350d wich was from 86-89 (or 86-93 for canada) all others will not work with 4x4 or require heavy modification. Those will work any others unless its 2x4 are a waste of your time and money.

95 Honda 300 Fourtrax-big red rear, 2 inch snorkel, 6 inch lift, 8 inch stretch, 3 inch body lift, 32 silverbacks, locker, M4 motorcycle exhaust, 424, 54% reduction, EPI Economy,

380, 450 clutch, 350D clutch cover all waiting to be installed.

88 honda 300 frame- 350d motor with a 69% reduction, small lift and 31 wides, dual 2.5'' glasspacks, 3.75'' body lift, locker, 450 foreman clutch still dont run

98 honda 300 4x4- all stock for now might get 450 gears and a 317 someday.

Thanks blue300, I like that bike you built a couple years ago! 00nut that water element tool is to small for the rancher star nut maybe it works on the 300 i don't remember if it's smaller or not but didn't work on this or the 450 diff. The tool I got is a 5" hot water heater wrench tool

Thanks, Idk if you have the correct pipe because im pretty sure the special tool is for all sra hondas. I used a peice of 1 1/4 square schedule 40 pipe with the center bored out to fit over the pinion nut and coupler.

Yea actually it can't be the right size because the tool I normally use on them is just 2 pieces of angle iron welded together and it was originally made for the 300 I built. It just won't fit over the splines on the rancher pinion as there's no pinion spline collar thing to remove. Don't have a drill press or a giant drill bit to drill out that tool and that bit would have to be like an inch which would be high$$$.

Well I couldn't find that heater tool in a larger size so I just bought a 1 1/2" x 1" steel hex pipe bushing and it was a tad to big so I just grinded the sides down till it was snug

That's what I've used. 1-1/2" Square tubing about 2" long welded on to a 1-1/2" 1/2" drive socket. Works like a champ.
