What oil in a sportsman 800?

Typically I would just nab some amsoil 2w50 off the shelf at work...but my bike needs an oil change and I don't work again for four days.

What's a good oil for these?

I see talk of the mobil1 full synthetic... it being a car oil with the added items for extra lubricity won't hurt the clutch? It's what I run in my car...but still a little iffy on it.

Got the filters and everything, just need a headsup on an oil type. And don't forget I'm in louisiana with a 100 degree ambient temp.

Always looking for trx70 and atc 70.

Mobil 1 will be fine.  Just about any fully synthetic 0-40 will work.

There is no wet clutch on the polaris like your honda, and other brands. I always ran Mobil1 full syn in all mine.

It's expensive!  I vaguely remember paying near $30 for it once.  Other than that it's fine.

What about mobile1 5w40 full synthetic for diesels.  The price is right and that oil is designed to take a beating.

I'll either run that or amsoil...depending on what I can get a good deal on at work.

I used to run polaris oil cause it wasn't much more expensive than buying any other 0w-40 synthetic by the quart but then I found out a 5 quart bottle of Mobile1 0w-40 full syn at wal mart is only $24.  It's hard to beat that...

i run mobil 1 0w-40 or castrol syntec 5w-50.  Mobil recently started making one that was close to 5w-50 also.  I believe it says it's for diesel trucks.  All work fine and I've ran it in all the Polaris ATVs I've had.

No body makes a odd ball weight like 2w-50, it's a Polaris ploy to get people to only buy Polaris OEM oil.    0w-40 is fine.

I'm now running the 15w50 full synthetic yamalube we have at work.  I've noticed a SIGNIFICANT decrease in heat coming off the motor.  I've been doing a lot of log pulling recently to cut firewood and it hasn't even felt warm on the inner legs.

This oil is a grade five synthetic with ester...only downfall is the price.

i run royal purple in my rig. i love the oil but as with any synthetic if you get water in that crankcase better just shut her down and pull her to the trailer. i have had great luck with mine so far. i use a wix filter with the royal purple and total cost at orielly's is roughly 12-15 bones depending on there discounts. can't go wrong there.
