Looked back and found the email when I picked mine up.  It's a 1745, made in the US.  Guess I overestimated the size of it a bit.  My wife says I do that a lot.

Almost forgot to take a pic.  Was out hammering on the rear diff out of one of my Foremen and remembered it.  Putting new seals  and a grease zerk in the rear brake panel while I have the rear end torn down.

Like my tidy work bench?  LOL

Not sure why the pic is upside down.....

Well I got my jaws in today and I'm gonna have the anvil touched up a bit by a buddy of mine at a machine shop. Not that there's much wrong it just has some pits from being used but I'm just anal like that. Talk about these jaws are nice though!!!!

Oh wow thats awesome for $5. There a guy over in the next town that has a bullet for sale. It looks like its been refurbished and painted and his too is missing the base and he wants $200. Im seeing alot of bullets lately that are missing the base. I wonder if Wilton had weak bases that always broke? Is it still useable without the base?https://limaohio.craigsli..org/tls/5306903839.html

Super nice score dozer!!!! The wilton vises base was an add on depending on the model. So if someone wanted a wilton and wanted to save a buck and didn't need to swivel it they didn't get the base. Yes the vise is 100% usable with out the base. On my vise I'm very picky how I do things plus time has been short with 3 of my kids in basketball!!! I plan on working on it some on Sunday. As for the drift trike!!! It has been raining and nasty here so it's still in my office. Trust me I'm ready to get the dang thing out for a ride. My son was supposed to put it in the homecoming parade but he was put on a float. IT IS COMING BCOM!!!!!

Here's mine. It's a Ridge vise. Made in the USA. . I thought my parents had purchased it but actually was my grandfathers. Not sure on the age but we've had it in our shop for about 15 years but before that it was at my grandfathers shop.

Wow that vise is as old as dirt! Great piece! The Ridge vise were made in Elyria Ohio and is the parent company of what we know today as Ridgid tools. Back when they were known as "The Ridge" they were an awesome USA tool but nowadays they have wandered off with everyone else to China. Too bad.
I see you have an X series John Deere. Great mower. I got one too.

You almost need to buff it with some light Emory cloth just to get to the metal under the stain then hit it with a clear.

local machine shop gave me a large band of light sandpaper to buff it up. I used the sandpaper band first, then used a dremel wire wheel(which worked best),and then i used the dremel mini buffing wheel with some automotive polish. Its so slick now that the locking set screw wont even hold the handle now since its so slick

Thanks. That dark petina is hard to get off the jaws and handle. Do you see the set screw in the middle of the t-handle slide? That is suppose to be a type of "brake" made up by chas parker. Behind the set screw is a spring,a ball bearing and a brass puck. All this presses against the slide handle to keep it from slamming up and down by putting a drag on it. Im still trying to rebuild this tiny piece but all of it has to be pieced together and the brass puck needs fabricated. Its kinda a novelty to have a drag brake on the slide handle, and i may just leave it the way it is and just put rubber washers at the end of the slide handle like they do on todays current vises.
