Rim / Wheel pattern design

I'm ordering up a set of custom wheel centers due to not finding a specific offset, more info later if this works.
The pattern doesn't really matter. I'm trying for low key.
Here is the question,
Are there any real negatives to just going with a flat circle design. Standard in farm and construction equipment.
Cutting holes/slots/skulls/whatever would cut some weight but not much. This is going on a mostly mud machine,so it will never see hi speeds.
Only thing I can think of is holes might make mud wash out easier?
Maybe solid will steer better in water LOL

Puddle wheels and tires are flat with no holes and never have a problem. They are narrow. Now if you had a deep wheel solid and mud caked in it then it may be a pain to clean.
