Rancher 350 big bore piston

I’ve been looking for a big bore kit and this may be a dumb question but if I get a 2.00mm oversized piston I’ll have to have the top end rebored am I correct

Stock is a 78.5. So your wanting to put a 80.5 piston in it? Yes the jug would have to be bored to fit the new piston. Plus I hope it doesn't put the sleeve to thin cause with the old HL BBK kit you got a new sleeve.

IMO that’s gonna give you some problems. Not worth it for such little gains.

okay thx for the info but do you have any suggestions for more power I'm kinda looking for something out of the box if possible some kind of hybrid motor would there be any top end from another bike with a bigger piston that would fit or not I’m just kinda looking at what I could do to make some more power and make it be a different than most builds

Wouldn’t it work to get a old 350d piston and bore my jug to fit. I know that the old 350d bikes had a 81mm piston would that be to big of an oversize if I were to go through with it. I’ve seen on a couple other forums people mention getting a standard bore piston from another Honda bike that has a bigger bore and it’ll give more power while being just as reliable as stock

You can always put a bigger piston in a bike. You need to know if the piston pin from the 350 will fit the 350d piston. You will need to know the compression height. The next thing would be to make sure the cylinder wall doesn't get to thin after the bore.

Okay thanks the 350d piston i have my eye on it’s a wiseco piston for the 350d the compression is 10.25:1 if I remember correctly I’ll look at how it would go I would like to find someone who has done it or something similar to talk to if you know of anyone but again thank you for your help

And I have also thought about swapping the jug and head from a 350d but when I looked further into doing that it ends up being that the 350d have a little bit different stud arrangement so I don’t believe there would be a way around that

No reasonable way to make a 350D top end work on a Rancher.

Not what you want to hear, but unless you want to pay a builder a couple grand on a custom motor there isn't an easy way to do what you want.

No bolt on stuff for a 350 Rancher, and honestly the Foreman top end on a 420 made so little difference in power it's not worth the money unless your 420 cylinder is ruined and can't be bored (mine was cracked so I put the Foreman cylinder on).

350 Ranchers haven't been made in 12 years, so doubt anyone will come out with any kind of bolt on big bore kit for it.  Just not any demand to make it worthwhile.

I have heard of people dropping a 400 Foreman motor into a 350.  You could try that, use a 450 cylinder and keep the 400 head for a higher compression motor, but that's going to require swapping in a completely different motor.

Yeah I understand that and that for the info and I might go with the motor swap sometime but if I do it’ll be quite a while from now and I’ll probably figure something out in the meantime but thank you for the help
