Problem with red wasp

I hate red wasps, absolutely hate them. I got a corner of my house they are beginning to bug the **** out of me.  Sprayed em down with wasp spray (which is nothing like it use to be) and expanded foamed every crack I could.  Now I think I got em cornered off, but now they are finding their way in the house from the attic now.  I've sprayed, put out a couple cans of roach bombs in the attic, even mixed up some dawn dish soap and kerosene and sprayed outside thinking maybe the combination would make them leave.  So far I can go back to spot they originated at and have a dozen or so just sitting there.  Short of calling a exterminator, any kind of homemade remedy I can put in my attic or outside to make them freaking leave? I aint never had to battle them like this ever before.

I own nothing.

Very interesting. My granddad used to keep a mix of homemade wasp spray in a spray bottle. I know it had that kanola (sp) stuff in it along with dish soap and a few other things. I'm not sure what else was in it but it worked like a charm. I will try to ask around my family and see if they remember what he put in it.

Gas or kerosene, and soap works like a charm at killing them, but you gotta spray it right on the nest.  They are build inside the eve up on the roof.  If I was brave enough, I'd actually go in the attic and right up to where their at and give em ****.  But I'm not about to get in an enclosed space and try to go to war with em.  I'm actually a bit scared of em.  Too many cases of digging around and getting that surprise attack from em. I been fighting them off for a wk now.  Every afternoon I look and their are several just chilling.  Kill em off and do it again the next day.  Bout to drive me crazy.

I just re-read my post and let me clear it up.  The actually nest isn't exposed. Its inside the roof.  If I could actually spray the nest, they'd been gone a wk ago.

soak the area in gas.  Kills them on contact.  We have them bad here too.  They are fiercely territorial and will chase you 20+ yards.

Billy The Exterminator FTW! .      But on a serious not, Ive used raid wasp spray on em and it killed em dead as a doornail.  But that was a couple years ago, like you said wasp spray aint what it used to be. We dont have that big of a problem with em around our house, maybe 4 small nest total, but when we do see em its whatever comes to hand first which is usually pb blaster lol, and carb/brake cleaner works great to lol. If you havent tried the raid wasp spray in the black can id try that. (dont know if raid is color coded or not)

I use B12 carb cleaner to kill them. Your gonna have to start cutting and find the nest and remove it. Be careful.

I havent had great luck with b12 or pb.  I found out that you dont use last years wasp spray.  The stuff I bought this year kills on contact.

B12 works great but you have to give them a good dose of it.

You can maybe go in the attic and find the nest at night. I know when we're frogging and bump a nest we just cut off all the lights (or bail off in the water lol) and its all good. That would be your best bet to me. Get in there with protective clothing and be ready to spray them. They are less active at night, just make quick work of it once found. As for keeping then away, good luck. I've been killing off wasp, hornets, bee's, and dirt dobbers at my house for a while now and they keep coming back. Not as bad as they used too but still do. Do not buy Spectralite (spelling?) spray! It only sprays about 5' and isn't strong. Good luck.

FIRE,  I use a Propane burner.  Has about a 4ft wand.  Nie big flame out of the end.  The instant the fire hit them it burns off their wings.  Very seldom will I get a stray fly off.  When they do they attack the heat source and not me.

SO just keep killing the little PIA's off as you see them.  If you find the nest I am sure it is going to be alot bigger then you are ready for.

Find a store that sells Hi Yield products. They are usually at a co-op. Get some 38 plus and mix it in a garden sprayer and spray all around your house or problem area. That stuff kills all bugs and keeps them from coming back for a while! Good luck with your extermination!

Well, I though I had it going my way, but wrong.  I'm just gonna let em die off this fall and start filling in all the little cracks and stuff around my house so next yr they can't get it again.  The funny thing is its like their hatching, finding a way outside the roof, but cant get back in.  One of the air vents for the attic close to where the nest is was covered in they.  They were covering it trying to get close, but couldnt get in.  Must have been 50 of em.  I sprayed em and watched em die.

Well, I got out there earlier and tore the vent down they were gathering up on.  None came out.  Tried to shine a light and see the nest, but no luck.  Took a garden sprayer with gas, stuck in in their and sprayed all around.  Beat and banged seeing if something would come out, nothing.  Maybe I got em. But now that I'm on wasp patrol, I found another one in my shed.  Same situation.  Going in a crack between the roof and eve.  Sucked it up, grabbed the ladder, crammed the garden sprayer in the crack and started spraying.  Look like a ball of red when they started pouring out.  Did I mention I'm very afraid of em?  Makes me skin crawl.  Snakes, bees, ect doesnt bother me.  Just freaking red wasp! That was a hr ago, and their still swarming out there.  Gonna give a lil bit and hit em again!!

Im wondering if a wasp will leave one nest and go to another??  Reason I ask is because I'm sitting here on the back porch, and can see both the corner of my house and my shed where the problem areas are.  Watch em swarm around on place for a bit, then the other.  Hmmm?

Well, after battling them all day, I think I got em.  Pretty sure the ones in my house are gone. Just to let y'all know about gas these days, it barely phases them.  I could literally soak the area down and they would land in it and everything.  Yeah, if you hit em direct it would eventually kill em, but you could watch em crawl and move around for a few mins.  My secret is some old offroad diesel i had.  Just a mist of it would hit em and they'd fall dead.  I bet I've killed over a 100 alone today. Got a wasp battlefield area by my shed, lol.  Little red dots everywhere.

Warm water and Dawn dish detergent. It will dry out their exoskeliton and make them pop like it does with fleas. Tear down the nest and spray the area with lemon grass oil. This will stop rebuilds for this season.
