Open Class Riders ???
-
Wednesday, March 10, 2010 1:15 PM
( #1 )
This has bothered me since the race at Creek Bottom. I placed third at Creek Bottom in the open class. I was not signed up for the open in the SMRS but was signed up for the Pro A. I had just bought a open class bike the weekend before the race. When I paid to race that weekend I was not told that I had to sign up for the SMRS open class before the race to receive the points. I paid for the class after the race and when they presented the awards. I would have paid for my dues at the race sign up if I would have known that I would not get my points. What are yalls thoughts on this? I hope this does not offend nayone that I have put this out there but I think about it every time I log into High Lifter.

It was the same way with cmr last year, doug (pimp800) could have been in the top three mid season but never registerd for the open. to me it only seems fair.

I can not make all the races so I guess I am just screwed!!! I would have paid the $25 if I would have known. Oh well it is what it is.

You still have a chance with the points, just depends on how you finish out the rest of the season. I wouldn't sweat it too much.

Man that sucks! You lose a 3rd. Is this in their rules? Or is this an unsaid rule?

JLUKE Man that sucks! You lose a 3rd. Is this in their rules? Or is this an unsaid rule? Doesn't need to be a rule....just common sense. If you aren't signed-up prior to a race, you shouldn't get points. Otherwise folks could just "test" to see if they are going to win, and then pay later. Not fair to the other racers who are already registered.

I understand your dilema (sp?) Jack. I did not register or run the Lite class because the bike was not ready. As soon as she's ready to run, I will be registering and running that class, but will already be down a race. Unfortunately, it is what it is...

^^^^I agree with this...It says in the rules that it was $50 to sign up for a class then $20 for every other class you wanted to be included in the points chase. Rules are rules and I hate to say it, but if you register in something you should read up on it to know what you are getting yourself in to otherwise stuff like this will happen. I hate it, but it's one of those things if you do it for one you have to do it for all or you'll pi** someone else off...but the points are only 5 points from each other ie (5 - 3rd / 10 - 2nd / 15 - 1st ect) so the chances of you staying high in the points by doing good in the races you do attend is pretty good...

Thanks for the responses everyone. I am just frustrated that I goofed up. I would have paid the $25 7 hours earlier if I would have known. Obviously I did not drive from central Florida to Louisiana to pick up a open class bike to "test out" racing the open class.

Jack, I wish that some of us would have caught that and reminded you to sign up for that class but it gets so crazy on race weekends!! Maybe this will help us all to remind folks to sign up for the classes they want to race for the SMRS. Jack still won 3rd at Creek Bottom and received a trophy and some cash but he just didn't get points!! Sorry Jack cause thats one bad bike ya got....
