OK, guys ive searched the post about 200 times, im looking for front bearing numbers for an 06 500 efi, if anyone can link me to it if im missing or if anyone knows the actual number off these bearings it would be a big help, a local bearing guy sells em for 5.99 race and cup and seal, he needs the number off the bearing itself to match up,
Are the front bearings the same in the 500, 600, 700 , 800?

Well, i dont have Advance auto tech here in the maritimes in Canada, and all i need is a number from one of the bearings to match, and to that, like i asked, are the bearings the same for the different sizes of machine?

RE: Make a list of common numbers we need - Wednesday, December 26, 2007 9:23 PM ( #130 )
Hello,

Thanks for all the parts subsitutions! Motivated me to quit feeding the Polaris monkey and do a bit of detective work.

I have found a universal joint to add to the ever-growing list. Note: these are smaller than the u-joints listed for earlier in this thread for larger ATV's.

2001 500 Sportsman HO RSE
Polaris part number 2200771
Cost: $72.79 ea. online at World of Powersports (I really hope this was a typo)

I measured my u-joint and went to Advance Auto Parts and found someone who could find the paper catalog that list the size of all available u-joints. Had to order the part and had it the next business day.

Advance Auto part number 1-0121
Brand name: neapco (some Italian flavor U-joint I never heard of previously)
Cost: $16.96 ea.

This part number fits all four locations. Make sure you measure the removed part and the new one. I actually had one of the four that was about .020 too long. Luckily this was the first one I installed so I measured it. All of the others were within spec. ( I took a grinder to the bad one to avoid ordering another and avoided having to walk to my secluded hunting spot again!)

I bought my Polaris used and I have cursed it ever since because I work on it more than I ride it (proven fact). I have to admit that all of the failures to date stem from lack of maintainence. Check your fluid levels especially in the front hubs. If they dry up which causes extreme heat, the garter spring turns into spagetti and it will lock the hub into 4WD when you are at high speed. You will have a wild ride turning hard left or right at best! At worst you will flip.  While I was fixing this issue, I discovered the front diff was almost empty and had water in the gear oil due to a worn and leaking seal. Also noted the u-joints were toast (no grease in them).

Maintain you ATVs! If you don't they might try to kill you.

Hope this helps,

engine mount replacement - Monday, January 28, 2008 5:34 AM ( #135 )
NAPA Part Number is 602-1069, very close motor mount replacement. Appears to be a tiny bit taller. Uncomfirmed, found this on another forum.

Just another number for ya'll.   Carter fuel pump # E7000 is the same as a 05 700 efi.  I bought it at oriely for 89.99.  The only difference is the strainer that comes with it will not work..  You will have to use your stock or have them find one that will work..

Are the federal-mogul 510013 bearings the same ones that fit the 06 polaris 700 efi in place of the rear wheel bearings?

We are replacing the front wheel bearings in a 2001 Sportsman 500 ho 4x4.  We have the Timken bearing numbers but when we went to the parts store to get them they didn't have the Timken so cross referenced them to a different brand and the bearing cup weren't included with the bearings.  Do these normally come without the bearing cups?  If so does anyone have parts numbers for the bearing cups?  The bearing numbers are Timken-L44643 and Timken-L44649.

Thanks,

This is a match for the oil filter on a sportsman 500, the link has other bikes too but I'm not sure about the twin bikes.  I have actually found this filter at my local Wal-mart. Hope this helps someone.

We started using NGK Iridiums on our machines and so far so good.  We were fouling out the regular NGK's pretty quickly.  I'm assuming the problem was the programmers on our machines.  Anyway here's the ones we're using on our twins, including the RZR.

For 1997-2000 Non-HO 500 Sportsmans

Polaris front strut Bearings #3554509  $18 bucks a pop
replaced by:
John Deer JD8935 About $5.00 each

Polaris front wheel hillard hub bearings  #3554506 $18 each
replaced by:
John Deer JD8933 about $5.00

You can carry any style roller bearing found in 96-2004 Sportsman to John Deere dealership, and chances are they will have it, for about a quarter of Pure Polaris' prices.
