Lacquer thinner for Carb cleaner?

I got my carb rebuild kit today and also noticed that I had forgot to take the primer pump off the carb bowl during my earlier cleaning.  Well after taking the primer off, there was a bunch of junk sitting in the bottom.  So after a quick spray of carb cleaner it cleaned it out.   And there is a passage in that same hole that the primer covers, I sprayed into it and it came out of top of the bowl, where some funny looking brass piece is stuck into the bowl, maybe a weight or needle valve?  It appears clean.  However the same looking piece that goes directly behind the primer is completely stopped up.

I was wondering if i can fill the bowl with lacquer thinner and let it sit for a while????  Just the bowl and nothing more.  Of course the drain screw will be in but I have a new o ring to fit it.

Here is a picture of what is stopped up.  Either air or gas flows around ????? that piece.
