Honda top end tick

Hey gang, I've got a 1989 fourtrax with a wicked tick that I have been chasing awhile. I recently replaced the tappets and rockers, helped but not fixed. I saw this in a comments section and was wondering if someone could explain this to me or maybe post a video doing it.

I know older Honda usually have a little bit of a tick, but this one has had a bit more than usual. after putting about 30 hard hours on this neglected Honda and sinking it I dropped in fresh rings and new timing chain. I have triple checked the valve adj but I cant quite quiet it down. It is definitely not as loud since I replaced the severely stretched timing chain but it still seems a little louder than most. The rocker arm to pin clearance seems to be very tight, have found no abnormal wear marks and cant quite track the sound with a stethoscope. Its definitely top end but its travels so far between the bottom of the jug and the top of the valve cover.  Iam I just over thinking a normal 300 characteristic or is something just not right

Thanks for all the help.

Sorry. This was the comment I meant to ask for clarification.

What I've learned on these bikes is that after 20+ years the rocker arms tend to wear some. So the way I set the valve is not by setting the motor to TDC. I rotate the motor over until I see the exhaust valve starting to open. This should indicate the intake valve is closed all the way. Set the intake valve at this time. Then do the same thing to set the exhaust vale. Watch for the intake valve to start opening. Even after adjusting at TDC several times my motors would always tick. I did it this way and much quieter

Ok yes rotate the cam off tdc. Then check your gap. If you set it at tdc it will always be off when you rotate a hair past. So adjust at the hair past tdc.

That's it? Ok, sounded to simple but I'll give it a shot. Thanks, this has been driving me crazy for awhile.
