I bought the 2005 Recon for my son in December. IT IS A BLAST TO RIDE! I weigh 230, and I can beat my Foreman 500 in a drag race. I can honestly say that it is the best value that I have ever received in an atv. Next year my middle son will be trading his 80 for a 250 with no hesitation on my part. The only downside is that we got the manual instead of ES, and it is a little hard for them to shift. I wish I would have gone ES.

I have a 2003 Honda Recon(manuel shift) and it works flawlessly. It is very good for mid sized riders because it only weighs about 400 pounds so it can be flipped off someone and manuvered very easily. It has a very powerful engine for a 250, and is probably one of the strongest in class. You can thank Honda for the extra power because they put the 250ex high performance piston and sleeve and everything in it. Also, highlifter as many parts for it such as lift kits, exhaust pipes, high performance packages and many other things. It is definently worth the money!!! I'm 13 yrs. old,5'6" tall ,and about 120 pounds, and this ATV fits perfectly. The Recon would be an excellent choice.

ive had or ridden alot of atvs in the 250 class. ive had a polaris trail blazer 250, a 2003 honda recon 250 manual shift. i have ridden a suzuki ozark and a honda 250ex. by far the recon was the best out of all of them. it woops the 250ex even tho it is about the same thing. alot more nimble and funner to ride than the trail blazer and it is a little better than the ozark. it has a little more power. but overall i think the recon is the best 250 sport/utility u can get

I bought my son one for Christmas and that thig is a hoot! I ride it every chance I get. The only thing he doesnt like are the stock tires. We are looking at Gators for the rear, he doesnt want too big of a tire to rob the power but he would like the extra traction. Oh, and of course it Yellow like mine

About the only bad thing I can about the Recon is that it's really cold natured compared to my 300's. They are certainly fun little wheeler to ride though.

I love mine. Been through a lot and got me back. I like it better than my rancher, honda 300 4x4 and yamaha 400 4x4. It is loads of fun.

let me tell you, them things are sweet, i bought me a 1997 (the first year they made them) recon in 1999 and i just sold it 6 months ago, that thing was a total blast and man that thing will pull wheelies like there is no tommorow! i only had to take it to the shop once to replace the swingarm bearings (to many donuts and powerslides hehe) and ive had my 03 rancher for about 7 months and ive taken it to the shop at least 10 times, and now it needs to go back to the shop for an engine rebiuld, i tell you one thing, ill never buy a rancher again in my life, but you definetly wont be dissappointed in the recon, i so go for it and get it!

i bought my son one for his birthday last year and its a pile of junk! 5th gear is already gone , i mean like non exsistant and its smoking too. its gonna cost about 1500 dollars to fixit so he is riding in four gears untill the motor completly craps out. ill do a top job on the motor and fix the trany then. it has been nothing but troubl ever since we bought it. i wont buy another honda for sure.

i have ridden both the honda and suzuki 250s, and i was really impressed with them both. they where a blast. if i had to buy a 250 today, it would be the suzuki just because of the disc brakes and the reverse is a little easier to use. although i only rode them both for a short period of time, they seemed to be about the same performance wise. it still would be a tough choice though because im a honda man anyway.

I bought one for my wife, and put a snorkel on it, we run a lot of water, that bike is a blast. I am not a small guy and it will haul **** with me on it. The only reason I would have bought something different is because she has a hard time following me on my foreman. Not because it won't spin them just needs a little more ground clearance. Overall a great bike though.

The only problem I have is My front brakes (but it is a honda) This is a great atv for a first quad. Mine has never died, it has been about to the handle bars in water, then it died I pulled it out got the water out and started right back up.

Yeah buy a Recon, I have an 02 with the footshift and a K&N air filter, that thing roars. Will be my Rancher on a drag race anyday, ****, I almost beat a Blaster on take off........................................................... until he caught 3rd gears' powerband and wheelied by me... Doh!! But yeah Im 14 5'6 and about 120lbs pulls me around good, and whats nice its light weight so u can push it around when it get stuck. But yeah that sob has some power. i can rip a wheelie in every gear except for 4th and 5th, dragging it its hard to keep the front wheels on the ground... Buy the Recon. It's so tough, it never bene in accidents, well 1, got sideswiped by someone doing 40mph on another quad, only bent the right upper a-aarm, but my recon has seen the rev limiter lots of time, still runs like the day i got it, used. Not a tick in the world, and only maintence ive put in her owning it for a year was oil changes. and new backtires... it seems to have a nasty habbit of burning the rear tires... *grin*
