Honda Foreman ES won't shift

I have a 2005 Foreman that starts but won't shift. When the key is turned on the dash blinks and the shift up/down buttons do nothing. Any ideas?

You have to count the number of flashes .. The codes are posted here somewhere (I think in the Honda section) just do a search .. If you can't find them post back ..

$50+ part, sits in front of motor near starter. has a metal band over it with 2 wires going to it. take off cover (2 bolts), sensor, unplug wires, and install new one. 5 mintue job. had to replace one on an 04 rancher, guessing it at the same place as yours.

i'm not too electrical savy, but my buddy had that same problem with his honda with the electrical shifter. we ck'd every single possible fuse and wire we could. it would start, but not shift electrically. come to find out, it ended up being his batterythat was shorting out his fuses and electrical shifting. hope that helps some.
