EPI Heavy Duty Ball Joint Failure - both uppers on the first ride!

I shelled out the $ for some EPI heavy duty rzr ball joints...one ride, 6 hours later, this is what I had...

I'll be contacting EPI on Monday for a refund on the parts and I am going to ask them to cover the installation labor for replacing them - I'm leaving town for work this monday and won't be home until the day before Nats...no way i'm gonna have time to put the new ones in myself.

This is a big time safety issue and they need to do a recall...

wow! keep us posted on their response.  They definitely wear out but never seen anything like that!  I'm still running stock with one SuperATV (which the rubber boot fell off of before getting it installed)

I'll keep yall posted...they had a 30 day warranty which expired Feb 23...Hopefully they will goodwill them.  All my dealings with EPI so far have been great so I expect this to be the same...

Had a buddy shear an aftermarket one off after riding a small water wheelie on his 700.  I know they arent made for an 800lb machine with huge tires in mind, but the things were brand new and werent 30 minutes into a ride.  Ive just used OEM every since and replace them every 6 months or so regardless as added insurance.

I drilled and tapped my stockers for Zerks and never have had an issue. Been running 6" CATVOS for 2 years and still on original set.

Real easy. I just drilled the center while using compressed air to keep shards out of joint. Then tapped threads and installed zerks I got from autozone. I then put rubber caps on them to keep mud out. I did this at the first hint that the ball joints were feeling worn. Pumped the grease and then they instantly firmed up.

I know that y'all are worried about ripping the zerk out of the joint if something hits it, but I have never had the issue.

yep, directly in the center on the flat part of the joint, but make sure the rubber boots don't have any tears, rips, etc or it's useless to do.

    Thanks.

Off the topic... What angle are your rear axles at? I recently took out my rear spring spacers and now I'm at 26 degrees (was 34) and at 18 1/4" clearance at rear.

I'm just curious as to what others are set up with a big lift?

And do u have stock springs or any spring spacers?

    Thanks

    Hey guys, an update:
The guys at EPI were great!  They made it right for me.

They're about to start a new production run and are going to have the engineers look at things to determine why mine failed and make sure that the new batch is perfect.
