some of these have been updated since previous posts you've seen by me. still looking for the 366 and thundercat ratios. hopefully this info will help someone in their quest to pick the perfect tire/gear combo and set up your clutching for the right speed range.

if you use a gearing calculator like  http://www.f-body.org/gears/  , put in the size tires you want, then enter "1" for the axle ratio, put "8000" for the redline (most ute atv's rev limiter is here... i know the 400s and 500s are for a fact), then enter the total reduction ratio from above to get the speed range for that ratio. for you belt drive guys this should come in handy so you can more accurately modify the springs and weights to get the ratios/rpm you need in certain speed ranges for the hp you have to work with.

in general, 90% of ute atvs reach peak horsepower at around 6500rpm... so for you belt-drive guys to get the most power to the ground from 0mph to your top speed, you want to set the clutching up so when you go WOT the CVT holds ~6500rpm (or whatever your peak hp rpm is according to an engine dyno) and upshifts there the entire way. i've covered the calculations behind this in previous threads, so just do it and know you're getting the most bang for your buck. us manual guys just have to play with the gearing and shift as necessary.

    Good info. I'm not sure that I will ever personally use it other than for comparisons, but I respect the time it took to gather all of this.

    what about the 2000 500m straight axle i have one with a bad front diff and not sure what the ratio is i want to put a diff out of a 2007 so i can lock and unlock but dont want to put wrong gears in it

    I think we figured out that they had 3.1:1 until 03.  There's a thread somewhere on here in the last few pages.

    Does anyone know the details on the Teryx secondary swap on the 650 V2's?  That's lower than dropping 9t pinions in, and possibly a decent alternative for the V2 crowd.
