I use some stuff called aluminum brightner, comes in a gallon jug. It is acid that you have to mix off with water. It works good, will clean the dirtiest alum, or fiberglass without scrubbing. I bought mine from a boat dealer.

I am now a beleiver. ****aw at first i thought aww just another wheel cleaner. Doesnt do so great. Well this morning i got up went down to Napa and searched for it and found it. I got home and tested it out on my truck wheels. This is the honest truth fellas, my truck wheels have not seen polish probably in a 1year. Maybe have been washed with soap and water about 3 or 4 times. they were just stained muddy brake grime nasty. Now they are brighter than i can remember ever seeing them. I will try to get pics of the bottle and my truck wheels up soon.

It will eat the chrome off a trailer ball!

I wouldn't get it anywhere near any paint!

I found it at the NAPA in Nacogdoches and it was 8.00 and some change with the tax.

The guy there said it is the same stuff they use at the truck stops to clean Tractor-Trailer Wheels with!

I worked at a carwash and we used that stuff on most wheels. You cannot use them on wheels with a clear coat as it will eat the clear coat off and leave it looking bad.

Careful on painted plastic as if there are scratches in the paint it will eat from underneath(ever see lug nut covers on cars that are yellow? thats why)
You should dilute it...at least 50/50 with water and when you see it foam up you know its working good!

From the looks of the Maxxis wheels I would say they are Clear Coated and you would not want to use this stuff on them if they are clear coated.

I couldn't find where it said they were clear coated but it did say they were "Highly Polished" not just machined polished. The ITP Type 6 wheels are Highly Polished also and I believe they are clear coated so I would assume the Maxxis are also.

No but after you use it you are supposed to polish them with something like Eagle One Never Dull wadding to put the shine back on them according to the guys at NAPA.

You should not use it on glass it will etch into it, make it where you can't see through it. if you use it on paint or clear coat regularly it will eat it up,don't know about plastic, sure its not good for it. if you use it on polished alum, it will take alot of rubbing with alum. polish to make it shine again (it's not worth it) and i've heard storys about guys useing it straight and keeping it on thier hands all day made thier fingernails fell off (no joke)
