660 wiring schematic

Does anyone out there have the wiring schematic for the 660? This is a continuation to the post "Need some serious help"... I have tracked down the short to the fuse labeled "ignition" now I just need to find out where that lead goes.. If anyone has anything I would appreciate it...

I've got the paper service manual and it has all you could ever need to know in it.... It's well worth the cost.  I ordered mine off yamahas website.  Cost more than the CD ROM but I can have it beside the bike with me when I'm working on it and look at it.  Might find the paper copy on ebay or somewhere cheaper though. I think I paid 40 bucks for mine and I'm sure you could find it cheaper but I think its been well worth the 40.

Disconnect the negative battery wire. Then...

Disconnect the electrical connecter that plugs into the starter relay.  The bottom left terminal on the connector (Blue/White wire) goes to the CDI box so when you hit the start button the CDI sends voltage through the Blue/White wire to the starter relay which energizes it.  Well, it doesn't sound like the voltage is getting to the relay, instead it is grounding before it gets there which is blowing the fuse.

Grab an OHM meter and put one lead on the Blue/White wire terminal on the connector and the other lead to the ground wire that goes to the battery.  The OHM meter should read OL or Infinite.  If it has a reading, then the Blue/White wire that goes from the CDI box to the start relay has shorted to ground.

If it has, then you need to find where and fix it.  Start by looking where the wires bend around the frame and such.  [;)]
