350 RANCHER WONT START!

got a buddy that called me today. said his Rancher 350 wouldnt start. When he hits the starter switch, it turns over but doesnt fire off. He says the spark plug is good and its got compression. I told him i'd get on here and see if anybody knew what might be wrong with it. If anybody knows what it could be please let me know. Thanks.

is it getting spark? or maybe bad gas? I know I get water in my gas tank somehow and I have to clean it out every once in a while.
