2003 5.9 cummins odometre fuse.

is there a fuse that can be taken out of these trucks that kills the odometre from reading? looking at buying one and dont want to get screwed over. any help would be good thanks

I had my fuse out for 10,000 miles and now show 344,000. Should have thrown that fuse away!!!!!!!

is there anyway you can check to see if the fuse has been pulled. i looked at a truck this weekend and its a really sharp truck and id like to buy it. but when i was looking inside it while he had it running there was nothing where the odometre is supposed to be. when you pull that fuse does the whole odometre shut right off?

no you should be able to see the odometer still.  check the engine hours vs the milage.

how do you check the engine hours?

I think you just hold the trip meter button and scroll threw till you get to the HRS.

alright ill take a peak! anyone know much about the 03 5.9 is it a good motor/ truck?

Only problem I know with the common rail motors is that they burn pistons bad when they are makin alot of power. Other than that there a cummins. I have a Bully Dog Power Pup for a 03-04.5 for sale $275 + shippin.

the 03-04s have less trouble with melting the pistons(better piston design).

Most people aren't going to mess with the mileage reading on them, i wouldn't worry about it. Maybe get a carfax and compare the miles if you suspect someones messed with it though.

i got an 05 5.9 common rail and it melted the number one hole... in process of a complete rebuild... but other than that TONS OF POWER... got a 6 speed in mine and with one piston in melt down it would break the tires lose through 3 or 4 gears...    just watch out with filling these motors with antifreeze whoever had mine first did not know they would airlock... (air in the motor and it shows the radiator is full of antifreeze when the motor is dry)... and thats how it melted the number one hole..   i love mine so much im putting close to 6k in it and tons of hours to have a new one again...
