Take the 4wd button out and see if its clean it might be corroded and not making contact.

I have good and bad new,  THe good new is it finally shift back to 2wd and bad new is it wont shift into 4wd  I think the transfer that shift it in 2wd or 4wd might be dirty or something it will need to clean out

What you think? Is my theory right?

If you can hear the motor trying to engage then its not the button.  I have never taken apart my front diff, so i have no idea of what other problems it could be.  Sorry i couldnt have been of more help.
